109 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Education the approved school capital programmes for 1997; the likely additional moneys which may be available; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [10221/97]
The capital programme for first and second level schools includes provision for new starts in 1997, contractual commitments from previous years, final accounts, health and safety cases, purchase of sites, minor works and provision of prefabs.
I propose to circulate in the Official Report a list of primary and post-primary schools on which construction work will commence this year.
Funding has been allocated to allow these projects to proceed to tender and contract. The financial position is kept under review as tenders are received and, at this stage, I am not aware of any likely additional funding.
