Vol. 480 No. 2

Written Answers. - Driving Licences.

Paul Bradford

Question:

239 Mr. Bradford asked the Minister for the Environment if he will allow the holders of Canadian driving licences to become automatically eligible to transfer to an Irish driving licence once they become residents of Ireland; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [13870/97]

Canada is not a recognised State for the purposes of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1989 and consequently a Canadian driving licence may not be exchanged for an Irish driving licence.
