99 Mr. Bell asked the Minister for Defence the current charges in relation to rations on repayment; the relationship which charges have to cost of purchase; when the charges were last amended; and the result in this regard. [23241/97]

Minister for Defence (Mr. M. Smith)

The current charge in respect of rations on repayment is £3 a day. The charge is based on the cost of purchase £2.16 and overhead recovery £0.84p.

The charge was most recently increased in June 1994 and is at present under review.
