Vol. 488 No. 7

Written Answers. - Fertility Treatment.

Question:

233 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if, further to Parliamentary Question No. 213 of 10 March 1998 regarding intra-uterine insemination treatment, he will list the hospitals or clinics using this procedure and if he will give details of the agreed protocols used by these hospitals or clinics. [7107/98]

I am informed that intra-uterine insemination treatment is available in: the National Maternity Hospital, Holles Street; the Rotunda Hospital; University College Hospital, Galway; University College Hospital, Cork and Limerick Regional Hospital. I also understand that this treatment is provided at two private health facilities, Clane General Hospital and a clinic on Morehampton Road.

As stated in my reply to the Deputy's recent question on this matter, I am informed that overall there are no protocols or guidelines for the administration of this treatment. However, I understand that each hospital or clinic has its own agreed protocols for the treatment.
