Vol. 489 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fire Service.

Brendan Howlin

Question:

497 Mr. Howlin asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when sanction will be given for construction of a new fire headquarters and station in Wexford town; whether funding has been allocated for this project in 1998; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8747/98]

The provision of a fire station is a matter for the fire authority concerned, in this case Wexford County Council. With regard to grant assistance from my Department, approval in principle issued to the council in June 1997 for the provision of a new headquarters fire station in Wexford. The next stage is for the council to prepare and submit detailed design and cost plans to my Department.
