Vol. 498 No. 1

Written Answers. - Refugee Status.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

335 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the position in relation to an application for refugee status for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 11; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26797/98]

It is not the practice to comment publicly on individual applications for refugee status having regard to the fact that applications by their nature are made in confidence with an expectation by the applicant that such confidence will be preserved.

However, I can confirm that the applicant has withdrawn his application for refugee status and has applied for residency on the grounds that he is married to an Irish national.
