Vol. 498 No. 5

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Finucane

Question:

107 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his Department will make the appropriate refund to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact the area aid section claimed back payments made as a result of his 1997 records not being amended; if these records will be amended; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27918/98]

The area aid records for the person named show a milk quota of 46,619 gallons for 1997. It is now confirmed that this milk quota is leased until 31 March 1999. I have made arrangements for the milk quota details on the area aid records to be amended for 1997 and for all refunds due to this herdowner to be made as soon as possible.

Question:

108 Mr. Finucane asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason for the delay in processing the case of a person (details supplied) in County Limerick in view of the fact determination of this matter is essential to eligibility for the farm retirement scheme. [27920/98]

It was expected that the processing of this application would have been completed at this stage. However, difficulties have arisen in relation to the disposal of land by the applicant which has delayed the finalisation of this application.

Ulick Burke

Question:

109 Mr. U. Burke asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when grants due to a person (details supplied) in County Galway under the area aid, suckler cow, headage and ten and 22 month schemes will be paid; the reason for the delay; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27923/98]

A query has arisen concerning a commonage parcel on the area aid application of the person concerned. The area aid unit has written to the person regarding this matter.

Ivor Callely

Question:

110 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food further to Parliamentary Question No. 230 of 6 October 1998, the amount of moneys paid to farmers in the top 20 payments made collectively under the schemes administered by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27945/98]

The top 20 payments made under the 1998 headage premium and arable aid schemes, all payments combined, are shown on the following table. Since full payments under the cattle premium schemes are not yet due for payment, the overall position may change when payments are completed at the end of June 1999.

Top Twenty Payments under 1998 Headage, Premium and Arable Aid Schemes.
