Vol. 499 No. 1

Written Answers. - Driving Test Centres.

Michael Ring

Question:

474 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Finance if a site has been selected in County Mayo for the location of a driving test centre; if so, if he will give details in this regard; and, if not, if the Office of Public Works will consider the site owned by a person (details supplied) in County Mayo which it recently examined. [1002/99]

No site has yet been selected in Castlebar for the location of a driving test centre.

The site owned by the person whose details have been supplied is one of seven suggested locations received by the Office of Public Works, in response to an advertisement, seeking suitable sites in Castlebar for the location of a driving test centre.

All seven sites have recently been assessed according to the specifications set out in the advertisement and the three most suitable sites have been shortlisted. The persons whose sites have been shortlisted will shortly be invited to take part in a competitive tender for the provision of the driving test centre. The persons whose sites have not been shortlisted will be so advised within the next ten days.
