Vol. 502 No. 2

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Austin Deasy

Question:

39 Mr. Deasy asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if he will make a decision on the application for a foreshore licence by Waterford County Council in order that the proposed sewerage scheme for Tramore, County Waterford, can proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7432/99]

Waterford County Council made application, which was received in my Department on 20 January, 1999, for a Licence under the Foreshore Acts to allow for the development of a new sewerage scheme at Tramore. The application is being considered by my Department which has been in contact with consultants for the Council on aspects which have already been identified as requiring modification.

The Environmental Impact Study submitted with the application is also being examined by my Department as a prelude to publication for public comment.

My Department will progress its examination of the application and related documentation as quickly as possible in consultation with the county council.
