65 Mr. N. Ahern asked the Minister for Health and Children if expenses such as quarterly charges for in-house and mobile oxygen machines are claimable under the drugs refund scheme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8690/99]
The policy in respect of the availability of oxygen and equipment to patients is a matter for the chief executive officer of each health board. It is my understanding that in general patients may claim a refund in respect of oxygen under the drug refund scheme. With regard to equipment, patients may be required to purchase the equipment at cost price or pay a rental charge, which may be refundable under the drug refund scheme.
