Vol. 508 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

John Perry

Question:

787 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the inadequate detention facilities in Ballymote Garda station; when the station will be upgraded in view of the fact that detainees have to be brought to Sligo, Manorhamilton and Carrick-on-Shannon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18374/99]

I understand from the Garda authorities that Ballymote Garda station does have detention facilities and that they are used, as appropriate.

The question of enhancing the facilities at Ballymote Garda station is, as with all other Garda accommodation, the subject of continual review, according to the policing requirements of the locality in question.
