Question:

126 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the costs of provision of uniforms to members of the Defence Forces for each of the years from 1997 to date in 1999; the suppliers of uniforms; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20343/99]

The cost of the provision of uniform – clothing items – to members of the Defence Forces during the period 1997-99, to date, is as follows:–

(a)1997–£0.97 million

(b)1998–£1.03 million

(c)1999–£0.43 million (to date)

The following companies are present suppliers of uniforms, clothing items, to the Defence Forces:–

Shannon Clothing, Limerick;
Azzuri Ltd., Waterford;
Silvergate Manufacturing Ltd., Dublin;
Wenaas Ireland, County Wexford;
Eddie Mangan, Dublin;
Seyntex NV, Belgium;
Namedroppers Manufacturing Ltd., Scotland;
Port West Ltd., County Mayo;
Vermilion Corporate Wear, England;
McGonnell Exports Ltd., Dublin.
