Question:

125 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Finance the number of people who have availed of section 39 of the Finance Act, 1978; the estimated capital acquisitions tax which was avoided; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22776/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that there are three cases where exemption under Section 39 of the Finance Act, 1978, has been granted. The amount of capital acquisitions tax foregone is £181,800.
