Vol. 510 No. 4

Written Answers. - Chiropody Service.

Willie Penrose

Question:

138 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a chiropodist provided at the diabetic outpatients clinic at Longford and Westmeath General Hospital has been withdrawn; the steps, if any, he will take to ensure this service is immediately restored; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22829/99]

I understand that the chiropody service provided at the diabetic outpatients clinic at Longford-Westmeath General Hospital, Mullingar, was temporarily withdrawn as a result of a pay-related dispute. The Midland Health Board has held discussions with those involved and I am pleased to inform the Deputy that the service will be resumed as soon as possible.
