Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Speech Therapy Service.

Noel O'Flynn

Question:

240 Mr. O'Flynn asked the Minister for Health and Children when a speech therapist requested by the South Infirmary/Victoria Hospital will be sanctioned. [23287/99]

P. J. Sheehan

Question:

263 Mr. Sheehan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he will approve funding to the South Infirmary/Victoria Hospital, Cork, to allow it employ a full-time speech and language therapist in a permanent capacity in view of the fact that the hospital provides a regional ear, nose and throat service. [23405/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 240 and 263 together.

The identification of priorities and the appointment of additional staff is a matter for the South Infirmary/Victoria Hospital in the first instance. An application for this post has been received by my Department and it will be considered in line with the priority accorded to it by the hospital and in the context of available funding.
