Vol. 510 No. 6

Written Answers. - Qualification Recognition.

Liam Aylward

Question:

258 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will arrange immediate discussions between officials of his Department and the Australian embassy to establish the reason a degree in radiography from UCD is not recognised in Australia having regard to the fact that this degree is recognised by the Irish Institute of Radiographers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23373/99]

There is no current reciprocal recognition of radiography qualifications between Ireland and Australia. However, the professional body in each country has been in discussions for some months now in relation to establishing protocols for dealing with applications from radiographers who wish to work in the other country. Cirricula have been exchanged and it is expected that these protocols will be finalised very shortly.
