Vol. 512 No. 1

Written Answers. - Tax Refund.

Ivan Yates

Question:

154 Mr. Yates asked the Minister for Finance if the income tax affairs of a person (details supplied) in County Wexford are correct; the reason he is paying the top rate of tax on a low level of income; and if this will be reviewed and rectified. [25549/99]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that the inspector of taxes has contacted the taxpayer's employer. Apparently, the PAYE system was not being operated correctly by the employer in respect of the taxpayer's earnings. The employer now understands the position and will refund the tax overpaid by the taxpayer on his next pay day.
