133 Mr. Power asked the Minister for Finance the correspondence, if any, he has received from Ulster Bank staff in relation to the hostile bid Nat West has received from the Bank of Scotland; the representations, if any, he has made in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I can confirm that two Deputies have forwarded to me correspondence from the assistant general secretary of the Irish Bank Officials Association concerning the future of the employees of Ulster Bank in the event of a merger or take-over of the bank. As the matters referred to in the correspondence are more appropriate to my colleague, the Tánaiste and Minster for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, I have forwarded them to her for her attention.
I have had no correspondence from Ulster Bank staff in relation to the specific issue of a hostile bid by the Bank of Scotland for the National Westminster Bank Group.
