Written Answers. - School Staffing.

John Dennehy

Question:

226 Mr. Dennehy asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of schools which will benefit from the proposal to allow schools with seven teachers to appoint an administrative principal; the investment required; the timetable envisaged for completion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3620/00]

Administrative principals are currently appointed to primary schools with eight or more mainstream class teachers. Administrative principals will be appointed to all schools with seven mainstream class teachers from 1 September 2000.

Details regarding the implementation of the proposal and the impact on the staffing schedule are currently being discussed with the partners in education. As soon as the details are finalised the Deputy will be advised of the position.
