Vol. 514 No. 3

Written Answers. - Fire Stations.

Dinny McGinley

Question:

254 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the plans, if any, he has to upgrade the present fire station or provide a new station for Glenties, County Donegal. [4176/00]

The provision of a fire service, including the provision of fire stations for its brigades, is the responsibility of the local fire authority concerned, in this case Donegal County Council. My Department provides capital grants towards certain expenditure incurred by a fire authority in providing a fire service.

There is no proposal from Donegal County Council for funding for a fire station project at Glenties before my Department.
