Vol. 514 No. 6

Written Answers. - Departmental Staff.

John Gormley

Question:

134 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the number of civil servants appointed by him and his Ministers of State to look after constituency matters; the costs involved; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5102/00]

A total of four civil servants, one staff officer and three clerical officers, work in my constituency office in the Department of Foreign Affairs. The cost of these staff including salary and employers' PRSI, at current pay rates, is £57,110 per annum.

Two clerical officers work in the constituency office of the Minister of State, Deputy O'Don nelI. The salary and employers' PRSI cost of these staff, at current pay rates, is £34,422 per annum.
In addition, staff in these constituency offices are, from time to time, required to work additional hours for which they may claim either overtime, at the standard rates applicable to civil servants, or leave in lieu of overtime.
