Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

42 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position of stage 4 of the north east Kerry regional water scheme; if his attention has been drawn to the importance of this scheme to over 600 families without a mains-water supply in the Asdee area of County Kerry; if he will prioritise this scheme in his forthcoming financial allocation to local authorities for sanitary provision and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5906/00]

Contract documents for stage 4 of the Listowel regional water supply scheme were submitted to my Department in 1991 but have not been approved. The scheme is first on the list submitted by Kerry County Council in response to my Department's request to local authorities to undertake fresh assessments of needs for capital works in their areas and to prioritise their proposals on the basis of the assessments. The priority lists will be taken into account in the framing of water services investment for this and future years under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006.
