Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - Traveller Accommodation.

Michael Ferris

Question:

79 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the reason approval was withdrawn from Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council for the development of a Travellers' halting site at Lower Dodder Road, Dublin; the representations, if any, made to him in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5968/00]

I refer to my reply to Question No. 253 of 15 February 2000 in which I set out the reasons for my decision in this case. I received numerous representations in relation to the proposal from elected representatives, residents associations, other interested groups and private individuals, some of which would, of course, have drawn attention to factors which I regarded as relevant in making my decision. However, I would like to assure the Deputy that my decision in this case was not made on the basis of representations received but rather for the reasons already outlined.
