Vol. 515 No. 3

Written Answers. - Coastal Erosion.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

105 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the proposals, if any, he has to protect the coastal area at Ballyquin, Ardmore, County Waterford, from erosion and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6204/00]

Funding under the national coast protection programme is directed primarily to projects which are identified by local authorities as being of immediate high priority. The need for protection works at Ballyquin-Ardmore has been drawn to my Department's attention by Waterford County Council. Any specific proposals which the local authority may wish to develop and submit in respect of that area will be assessed in the context of the overall priorities for coast protection and available funding.
