Vol. 516 No. 4

Written Answers. - Coastal Protection.

Billy Timmins

Question:

38 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the discussions, if any, he has had with CIE with respect to the upkeep or expansion of coastal defences along the Dublin to Rosslare rail line; if so, the sections in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8220/00]

My Department has not to date been approached by CIE in relation to coastal protection requirements along the Dublin-Rosslare rail line but is available to discuss the rail line's coastal protection requirements with both CIE and the relevant local authorities, so that any necessary works can be identified and prioritised for consideration in the context of a multiannual coastal protection programme.
