Question:

16 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will bring forward long promised legislation providing for the reform of local government and for the direct election of mayors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10033/00]

As indicated in a written reply on Tuesday last, the text of the Local Government Bill, 2000, is due to be submitted to Government before Easter for authorisation to publish and will be published soon after.
