Vol. 518 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Question:

76 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle and sheep headage in view of the fact he has submitted evidence of ownership of his land. [11275/00]

As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question No. 237 of 26 January 2000, the person named had undertaken to provide the area aid unit with further proof of his entitlement to claim commonages in his 1999 area aid application. He has since forwarded this further proof. On examining all the proof provided, it is only sufficient to justify a claim of 8.75 hectares on a particular commonage, whereas his total claim on this commonage amounted to 25.7 hectares.

My Department is again contacting the person named to give him a final opportunity to substantiate his claim.

Question:

77 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle headage in view of the fact he returned maps to the area aid unit recently. [11276/00]

As stated in my reply to Question No. 70 of 22 March 2000, the person named included commonage in his 1999 area aid application, but did not provide proof of his entitlement to claim this commonage. The herdowner was contacted in this regard and subsequently returned maps to the area aid unit. These maps are not proof of his entitlement, so he has been contacted once again requesting commonage evidence. No payments can issue until this matter has been resolved.
