Vol. 518 No. 3

Written Answers. - Pension Provisions.

Richard Bruton

Question:

100 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she is making any funds available to implement the recommendations of the task force on Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta pensions; when she will act on the anomaly in this case; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [11369/00]

I have not yet received a report from the chairmen of Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta on the work of the task force established by the chairmen to examine concerns which have been expressed to me by a number of Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta pensioners about the Irish airlines (general employees) superannuation scheme.

The task force has, at this stage, taken all written and oral submissions. It is examining the submissions and has engaged actuarial assistance to help it in this task. Once this exercise is complete, the task force will document its findings and submit them to Aer Lingus and Aer Rianta who will then revert to me. Accordingly, it would not be appropriate for me to comment in advance of the report from the chairmen on this particular matter.
