250 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress on the proposal to establish a centre for deaf studies in Trinity College, Dublin 2; and if he has considered the report on the proposal by the Higher Education Authority which has been submitted to his Department's further education section. Following its consultation with various interests in the field, the Higher Education Authority has recently submitted a report to my Department on the proposal to establish a centre for deaf studies in Trinity College Dublin. The authority concludes that there is a strong case for the establishment of the centre. I am favourably disposed to such a centre. However, a number of practical issues need further clarification and I have asked my officials to liaise with the authority in this regard.
