Vol. 519 No. 3

Written Answers - Ophthalmic Services.

John McGuinness

Question:

174 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if his Department will take immediate steps to set a date for an eye test for a person (details supplied) in County Carlow who urgently requires her glasses to be replaced and her eye condition to be treated; if, in view of the age of the applicant, the process can be expedited; his views on the delay in this regard; and if he will seek a full report from the health board in this regard. [13879/00]

As it is the statutory responsibility of the South Eastern Health Board to provide ophthalmic services to eligible persons in County Carlow, I have asked the chief executive of that board to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
