Vol. 519 No. 4

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Alan M. Dukes

Question:

121 Mr. Dukes asked the Minister for Education and Science if he has made a decision on a proposal made by a school (details supplied) in County Kildare to purchase a 2.2 acre site for a new school building; and if he has not, the reason for the delay in a decision being made given the fact the construction of a new school building has not become extremely urgent. [13949/00]

My Department has received a proposal from the school in question to purchase a site for a new school building. However, a technical report has indicated that the site as proposed is not suitable for school development. The question of developing the existing school site is currently being assessed.

Jackie Healy-Rae

Question:

122 Mr. Healy-Rae asked the Minister for Education and Science if the contractors have been invited to tender for phase two of Kenmare community school, County Kerry; the current position regarding phase two of this school; and if he will state the reason there is such a long delay. [13950/00]

The building unit of my Department has requested further information regarding the contract documentation for phase two of this project from the design team.

When this further information is submitted and approved, tenders will be invited for the phase two works.
