Vol. 521 No. 5

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

159 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will make a statement on the cost of acquiring a site for a national school at Littlepace, Castaheany, Clonsilla, Dublin 15; when it is planned to open this primary school in an area of massive housing development; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17726/00]

My Department has agreed terms for the acquisition of a site at Littlepace, Castaheany, Dublin 15, and the contracts of sale have been referred to the Office of the Chief State Solicitor for execution. Until the legal formalities have been completed, I am not in a position to make a statement on the financial terms involved. I will arrange to inform the Deputy when the sale has been closed. In the meantime, a design team has been appointed and architectural planning is proceeding. It is not possible to say at this point when construction will commence.
