Question:

100 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Defence the number of serving members of the Defence Forces who have lodged compensation claims against the State; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17579/00]

The number of compensation claims made by serving members of the Defence Forces to date is 5,540, of which 4,356 relate to hearing loss.
