John Perry

Question:

156 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development if a decision has been made on an appeal by a person (details supplied) for sheep headage payments; if a favourable decision will be given; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18268/00]

Following an inspection of the flock of the person named it was found that he did not have the number of sheep on which he applied for payment under the 2000 ewe premium and sheep headage schemes. Consequently under the terms and conditions of the schemes he was deemed ineligible for payment. He was notified of this decision in writing and was advised that he could have his case reviewed by submitting a written appeal to the District Inspector which he has done. This appeal is currently under review and the person named will be informed in writing of the outcome shortly.

Michael Ring

Question:

157 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive 1999 cattle headage and special beef premium in view of the fact that documents to prove entitlement to claim the holding have been submitted. [18320/00]

The person named has now submitted additional documentation to support his area aid claim and his application has now been cleared for payment based on the full 21.61 hectares which he included in his application. He was paid his full entitlement of £1,371 under the 1999 cattle headage scheme on 28 September 1999. He was an applicant under the 1999 suckler cow premium scheme, and an advance payment of 60% amounting to £958.60 was made to him on 1 November 1999 under that scheme. He was also paid £85.08 suckler cow euro compensation on 20 December 1999. He will shortly be paid the 40% balance of his 1999 suckler cow premium, amounting to £639.08, and his 1999 suckler cow extensification premium amounting to £517.56.

The person named applied for five animals under the June 1999 special beef premium scheme. The case is now fully processed, and cheques for the amount of £428.05 in respect of 1999 special beef premium, £22.80 in respect of beef premium euro compensation and £215.65 in respect of beef premium extensification will issue as soon as possible.
