Vol. 522 No. 2

Written Answers. - Petroleum Prices.

Cecilia Keaveney

Question:

183 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the large discrepancies in relation to the price of petroleum throughout the country; and if there are any variations by region in relation to excise duties which would account for this. [18043/00]

The price of oil products has risen in recent times. This has been due to the increase in the cost of crude oil on the world market and to fluctuations in currency values. Variations in price at the pumps are a matter for the oil importers, distributors and retailers.

There are no variations from one area to another in the State in the level of the excise duty imposed on these products.
