The person concerned is currently in receipt of unemployment assistance at the rate of £92.90 per week. A one-parent family payment application was received from her on 18 January 2000.
She was interviewed by a local officer on 14 March 2000 in connection with her application. On 24 May 2000 she was asked to forward her birth and marriage certificates and also, to supply evidence of her efforts to obtain maintenance from her spouse, within 21 days.
As the person concerned failed to forward the necessary documentation, her application for one-parent family payment was disallowed on 19 June 2000. She was informed of this decision in writing and of her right to appeal against it by writing to the Chief Appeals Office, Social Welfare Appeals Office, D'Olier House, Dublin 2, within 21 days, stating clearly the grounds of her appeal.
If the person concerned believes that her spouse is in the UK and his address is unknown to her, the Department of Social Security will try to trace him and forward a letter to him for her. The person concerned should, therefore, write to her spouse requesting maintenance for herself and her children. This letter should be enclosed in a sealed envelope addressed to her spouse and forwarded to the Department of Social Security Special Section A, Room 101B, Longbenton, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, England, NE 981YX.
Her entitlement to one-parent family payment may be re-examined if she forwards the necessary certificates and documentary evidence of her efforts to obtain maintenance from her spouse.
