Question:

379 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the circumstances in which Irish citizenship/naturalisation will be considered in respect of persons (details supplied) in County Kildare who are themselves Irish citizens in view of the fact that the family have good employment prospects; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [17964/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 363 and 379 together.

In my reply to an earlier question raised by the Deputy, Question No. 121 of 10 February 2000, I outlined in detail the statutory requirements that must be complied with in order to apply for a certificate of naturalisation. It is open to the persons concerned to apply for naturalisation in the future if and when their circumstances better enable them to meet these requirements.
