The number of requests made to the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment under the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, is as follows:

21 April 1998 to 31 December 1998	286
1 January 1999 to 31 December 1999	244
1 January 2000 to 23 June 2000	119
Total	649

My Department has received requests on a wide range of topics. The sources of requests to the Department are as follows:

Business	40% (30% from a single requester)
Journalists	39%
Oireachtas	4%
Staff	1%
Others	16%
