Vol. 526 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Operations.

Proinsias De Rossa

Question:

115 Proinsias De Rossa asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans there are to use the Criminal Assets Bureau against paramilitary organisations in view of strong evidence of paramilitary organisations in organised crime; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25748/00]

Sections 4 and 5 of the Criminal Assets Bureau Act, 1996, set out the objectives and functions of the Criminal Assets Bureau. It is not the policy of the bureau, nor would it be appropriate for me, to comment on any particular investigation which might be undertaken by the bureau.
