Vol. 528 No. 1
283 Mr. Killeen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the way in which contracts for roadworks, in excess of £10 million, were placed by each county council prior to 1 May 2000. [29540/00]
In the case of non-national roads, the Department's memorandum on grants for non-national roads requires that contract works for specific grant funded improvement projects for new or realigned roads with an estimated cost in excess of £0.5 million must be submitted to the Department for approval in advance of advertising for tenders. In addition, normal tender and procurement requirements must be followed. No contracts with a value in excess of £10 million have been submitted to the Department for approval pursuant to the above arrangements.
In the case of national roads, supervision of the placing of contracts by local authorities is a matter for the National Roads Authority.
