Question:

164 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will expedite an application by a person (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if he will state the status of the application. [5243/01]

Applications for permission to remain in the State on the basis of parentage of an Irish citizen are processed by the immigration division of my Department in the order in which they are received. It is anticipated that the application referred to by the Deputy will be processed within the next six weeks.
