Vol. 531 No. 5

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Perry – the need to condemn works being undertaken at and around megalithic tombs in Carrowmore, County Sligo; (2) Deputy Gregory – the request by two girls' schools in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, for temporary grant-aid towards the cost of school transport for children living in the severely disadvantaged Cherry Orchard community; (3) Deputy Sargent – that the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development address the radical re-think required in agriculture following from the BSE and foot and mouth disease crisis, and in particular the need to re-evaluate the trend towards the globalisation of agriculture and the necessity to promote more local, humane and sustainable agricultural production and supply; (4) Deputy O'Sullivan – the need for a broad range of measures, enshrined in legislation, to ensure that family-friendly workplaces are the norm for all workers.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Sullivan, Gregory and Perry have been selected for discussion.
