Vol. 535 No. 1

Written Answers - Library Projects.

Phil Hogan

Question:

417 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects the new Kilkenny city library branch and county library headquarters to commence in view of his commitment in May 1999 that funding will be made available no later than the year 2000; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11946/01]

The planning and development of library proposals is primarily a matter for each library authority subject to approval by my Department at various stages of a project's development. Approval to fund the Kilkenny city library was granted subject to suitable proposals being submitted by the library authority. My Department has recently received revised stage 2 – detailed cost and design – proposals from the library authority and these are under examination.

Question No. 418 answered with Question No. 377.
