Vol. 539 No. 1

Written Answers. - Estates Officers.

Phil Hogan

Question:

148 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the reason all the estate officers have been removed from office with effect from 22 April 2001; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18610/01]

The Government decided to terminate the employment of the estates officers as the functions for which they were recruited have not existed for some time and the officers concerned refused the option of redeployment or early retirement on a number of occasions.
