Question:

82 Mr. Naughten asked the Taoiseach the figures on the numbers of unemployed and long-term unemployed collated through the national household survey for each quarter over the past five years; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18942/01]

The quarterly national household survey began in September 1997, replacing the annual April labour force survey. The following table shows the number of persons unemployed and long-term unemployed for each quarter, as requested by the Deputy:
