Vol. 541 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Liam Aylward

Question:

375 Mr. Aylward asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the plans there are to have restoration works carried out to a Garda barracks (details supplied) in County Kilkenny. [23134/01]

It is proposed to build a new Garda station at the location in question and, to this end, the Office of Public Works is endeavouring to secure a suitable site. Although it is not possible to say when the project will commence, I assure the Deputy that the matter will be progressed as quickly as overall priorities within the Garda building programme and the availability of financial and other resources allow. I can inform the Deputy, however, that since late 1999 almost £10,000 has been spent on works to the station and it will, in the near future, be decorated both internally and externally.
