Vol. 542 No. 6

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Paul Connaughton

Question:

268 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the overcrowding at Creggs National School, County Galway; if his attention has further been drawn to the fact that there are no facilities for remedial or resource teachers; if his attention has further been drawn to the contribution this school has made to the community life in this parish; when funding will be made available for the extension; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25412/01]

My Department has received an application for grant aid towards the cost of a building project at Creggs National School, County Galway. The Deputy will appreciate that there has been a massive and unprecedented increase in the funds allocated by this Government to the schools building programme at all levels.

Decisions relating to the rate of progress to construction of projects, including Creggs National School, will be taken in the light of the allocations to be made for school building purposes in the forthcoming Estimates.
