Vol. 542 No. 6

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Billy Timmins

Question:

127 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the procedure for securing an entry visa for a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25661/01]

An application for a visa by a Filipino passport holder who is resident in the Philippines and has a work permit should be made through our consulate in the Philippines at the following address: Honorary Consul of Ireland, 70 Jupiter Street, Bel Air 1, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines: telephone number: 00-63-2-896-4668 or fax: 00-63-2-897-8534.

A completed application form, available from the consulate, must be submitted with each application together with the following documentation: the applicant's passport, two passport size photographs, the appropriate fee for a single or multiple entry visa – details of the fees in local currency are available from the consulate – and the original of the work permit issued by the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment to the prospective Irish employer of the applicant.

Visa applications received in the consulate in the Philippines are forwarded to the visa office in my Department for decision. The decision is conveyed to the applicant through the consulate. If approved, the applicant will be granted either a single or multiple entry – D Employment, bearer only visa. A single entry visa is normally valid for three months from the date on which the visa sticker is written. A multiple entry visa will be valid to the expiry date shown on the work permit. The visa sticker will be affixed to a page in the applicant's passport.
