Retention of the 12 mile limit falls to be negotiated in the review of the Common Fisheries Policy. In that context the case made by the national CFP strategy group for extension of the limit to 24 miles has been conveyed to the Commission. At national level a number of initiatives are under way to conserve and develop inshore fish stocks.
