Seán Ryan

Question:

158 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Health and Children when he expects work to commence on the acute psychiatric unit in the grounds of Nenagh General Hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [32323/01]

My Department is engaged in discussions with the Mid-Western Health Board regarding developments under the national development plan including the provision of a new acute psychiatric unit at Nenagh General Hospital. The detailed planning process for this acute psychiatric unit is not yet complete. In the circumstances, therefore, I am not in a position at this time to state when construction of the unit will commence.
